Salvia hispanica L. is commonly known as chia. Chia seeds are currently utilized a popular superfood because of its nutritional and medicinal value. Mexican plant belonging to Labiatae/Laminaceae family. The scientifically evident higher content omega-3-alpha linolenic acid the major reason behind health benefits hispanica. also investigated observed contain other bioactive proteins, dietary fibers along with antioxidant phytocomponents. It has been that fiber favoring proper functioning digestive system, whereas presence unsaturated fatty acids exhibits beneficial effect in controlling diabetes mellitus. Literature reflects preventive curative against many diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer, skin problems, hepatic diseases, gastrointestinal disorders boosts immune system.
